Hinged/Spherical hinged (or gimbal)
They both are balanced
expansion joints able to absorb the end thrust due to the internal
pressure.

Construction
The hinged expansion joints (WH)
are composed of bellows having two
couples untied tie-bar.
The gimbal expansion joints (WG) are composed of
bellows having four untied tie-bar.I
Rules of installation
WH
-
The side move born from a
couple of hinged expansions joints is
proportional to the mutual distance, so,
more the two joints are distant, greater it
will be the side move.
As you can observe from the following sketches, hinged
expansion joints always are installed in couple or in set of three
numbers, so that they can absorb side moves, in one or more direction in
comparison to the plan of the pipeline.
Their installation allows to reduce in evident way the
stress produced on the fixed points.
WG
- These
expansion joints have to be installed in couple, or together with an
hinged expansion joint (see sketch).
