AXIAL AW - AW/F-FA

PRESSURE BALANCED AXIAL AW/SE - AW/F/SE

  AW/SE 90 - AW/F/SE 90

CALCULATION OF THE THRUSTS

The axial expansion joints, composed of one or more bellows, are planned and built, to absorb the axial movements. They always are installed among two fixed points, regulated so that they can bear the thrust due to the inside pressure.

Sp = Am * Pe

For a correct installation it is necessary to presetting the joint, calculating the length to the assemblage, as follows:
were:
Sp = thrust
Am = medium area
Pe = pressure
L = length
Tmax = maximum working temperature
Tmin = minimum working temperature
Tm = mounting temperature
Δ = expansion of the pipeline between Tmin and Tmax
Ce = extension travel
Cc = compression travel

FIXED POINTS
To allow to the axial expansion joint to perfectly carry out its function, it is necessary to limit strengths (displacements and rotations) generated on pipeline, using fixed points. Usually fixed points are distinguished in:
  • main fixed point PF
  • intermediate fixed point PI

GUIDE
An appropriate positioning of fixed points and guides in a pipeline,
can check the movement of the expansion joint.
